Assistive tools provide confidence in daily living
From research and studies, we can see that the use of cognitive assistive tools can give their users a feeling of control and security, support self-esteem. They provide the users with confidence in the ability to plan and manage daily living on their own.
Users feel that using these tools will help them to carry out daily routines, increase their ability to maintain different roles in their life and gives them a feeling of being just like anyone else. It prevents them from always experiencing 'unexpected surprises' and they feel they can be in control of events, thus contributing to increased confidence and security in planning and handling of daily living on their own.
Relatives and carers experience that the users are in less need of support from other people in order to carry their daily activities. They get less calls concerning time and day from the users. They think that the users become more confident in being able to plan and perform their daily living.
Users with dementia get up less during night, stop leaving their flat at night, stop disturbing neighbors, remember to take their medicines, are calmer and feel more secure.
